Software, infrastructure & security, engineered to last.
TREV is an independent technology studio. We design, build, and operate the systems that organizations quietly depend on — from custom applications to the cloud platforms and security controls underneath them.

A studio, not a shop.
TREV operates as a small, senior team that takes long-term responsibility for the software it builds. We work as a technical partner rather than a vendor — accountable for architecture, delivery, and the operational life of the system after launch.
Every engagement is shaped by a written brief, a shared understanding of constraints, and a plan we can defend in front of engineers, operators, and executives alike. We choose durability over novelty, and clarity over volume.
Applied software engineering
Custom back-end services, web platforms, and mobile applications built on stacks we understand end to end.
Cloud & infrastructure
Architecture, provisioning, and operations for workloads running on AWS, Azure, GCP, and private data centers.
Security engineering
Threat modelling, hardened configurations, identity, and incident response built into the delivery process.
Data & analytics
Pipelines, warehouses, and analytical products that turn operational data into decisions leadership can trust.
Applied AI integration
Careful integration of machine learning and language-model capabilities into existing products and workflows.
Platform modernization
Migration and rewrite of legacy systems into architectures that can be maintained and extended for a decade.
Fourteen disciplines under one roof.
Each service is delivered by senior practitioners and coordinated through a single engagement lead. The full catalogue is documented on the Services page.

From brief to operation, in six phases.
Every project moves through the same disciplined sequence. The depth of each phase scales with the size and risk of the engagement.
- 01
Brief
Written statement of the problem, constraints, and success conditions, agreed with stakeholders.
- 02
Discovery
Architecture review, technical interviews, and a preliminary risk register.
- 03
Design
System design, interface design, and interface contracts committed to documentation.
- 04
Build
Short iterations behind a stable trunk, with continuous integration and review from day one.
- 05
Harden
Security review, performance testing, resilience testing, and operational readiness.
- 06
Operate
Handover with documentation, monitoring, and — where required — ongoing support.
We keep a deliberately narrow & deeply understood stack.
Technology is selected for longevity and operability. New tools are adopted only when the operational and security implications are understood in full.

Systems that stay up when the day gets difficult.
We design cloud environments and hybrid infrastructures for high availability, predictable cost, and clean recovery. Terraform-managed, observable, and documented so the next engineer can operate them without guesswork.
- — Multi-account & multi-region topology
- — Immutable, versioned infrastructure
- — Autoscaling, budget alerts, cost hygiene
- — Disaster recovery & failover drills
- — Zero-trust network architecture
Security is a property of the whole system — not a layer bolted onto it after release. We design for the attacker, model the threats before writing the code, and treat every dependency as part of the perimeter.

From raw signal to decisions leadership can trust.
We build the plumbing behind analytics: ingestion, modelling, warehousing, and the interfaces that put reliable numbers in front of the people who use them. Data quality is treated as a first-class concern, with lineage and tests running in production.

Quality is written into the process, not inspected at the end.
Testing is an engineering discipline. Every change ships through automated pipelines that verify behaviour, contracts, security posture, and performance before the release is considered complete.
Static analysis
Types, linters, security scans running on every commit.
Unit & integration
Focused suites protecting behaviour and contracts.
End-to-end
Realistic user journeys on production-like environments.
Performance
Load, soak, and stress tests tied to service-level objectives.
Security review
Threat model updates and dependency review each release.
Chaos & resilience
Failure injection to validate recovery assumptions.

Senior teams only
Every engagement is staffed with engineers who have delivered at scale before.
Long-term thinking
We build systems intended to run for a decade, not for a quarter.
Honest architecture
We prefer boring, well-understood tools over fashionable ones.
Transparent delivery
Weekly written updates, clear risk registers, no fabricated velocity.
Operational responsibility
We stay accountable for the systems we ship.
Documentation as artefact
Every project ends with documentation another team could actually use.
Six principles govern how work leaves the studio.
P.1
Written first
If it isn't written down, it hasn't been agreed.
P.2
Small releases
Ship small, ship often, roll back quickly.
P.3
Reversible decisions
Prefer decisions we can change tomorrow over ones we cannot.
P.4
Automate the boring
Repetition is a defect; automate it out.
P.5
Own the runbook
The people who build the system write its runbook.
P.6
Leave things better
Every commit either fixes a defect or removes one.
A senior bench, deep in the disciplines that matter.
The studio is composed of engineers with sustained experience in production systems. We hire practitioners who have shipped, operated, and repaired the systems they now design — and who can explain their choices in writing.
Expertise is organised into practices — application engineering, platform engineering, security, data, and quality — that support one another during every engagement. There is no separation between "senior" and "delivery" teams.

Common questions.
- How does an engagement with TREV begin?
- Every engagement begins with a written brief and a discovery conversation. We review the existing system, constraints, and desired outcomes before proposing an approach.
- Do you work with existing engineering teams?
- Yes. A large share of our work happens alongside internal engineering teams, supplementing capacity and providing specialist knowledge in infrastructure, security, and data.
- What is your approach to intellectual property?
- Clients own the source code, documentation, and infrastructure produced during an engagement. We deliver everything required to operate the system independently.
- Which industries do you serve?
- TREV works across finance, healthcare, logistics, industrial operations, professional services, and consumer software. Engagements are shaped by the problem, not the sector.
- How do you handle confidential information?
- Access is granted on a need-to-know basis, credentials are managed through hardened secret storage, and every project has a documented data handling plan agreed with the client.

TREV is a small studio doing serious work. We take responsibility for what we build, we say what we mean, and we invest in the systems that will outlive the fashions that surround them. Correspondence: maryannmitchell85@gmail.com.
